Running Revit on Mac Using WineSkin

As a long-time user of Revit, I was thrilled to discover that it is possible to run this powerful CAD software on a Mac using WineSkin. After some trial and error, I was able to get CC3 up and running with minimal issues.

Firstly, I downloaded the full version of CC3 in ZIP format (approximately 3GB) and extracted it to my desktop. Next, I launched Wineskin Winery and created a new blank wrapper. I chose the engine WS9Wine1.5.13, which worked well for me.

After installation, I noticed that the performance of Revit on my Mac was significantly better than when running it in Bootcamp. In fact, the loading time for sheet effects had doubled, and mouse movement was no longer a struggle on my touchpad.

I did encounter some issues with add-ons released after 2011, which required me to change the engine used by CC3. This was easily done through the 'Tools' menu in Revit. I also found that using the latest version of the Wineskin engine (WS9Wine1.5.13) helped resolve some compatibility issues with add-ons.

One feature worth mentioning is the ability to view HTML files inside CC3 using the Gecko framework, which was downloaded and installed by Wineskin. This allowed me to access help files and other resources within Revit.
